Josie had the opportunity to speak with Dave Marchese from the ABC on Triple J’s Hack about Trump’s blanket tariffs and how they might affect the Australian beef industry. While there were no clear-cut answers on the impact, with many factors influencing markets and price, we were glad to offer a producer’s perspective to the story.

James has recently submitted his thesis which examined potential genotype by environment interaction for fertility traits in tropical beef cattle. This paper is the first chapter and investigates the effect of different environmental descriptors on fertility performance of breeding females in the Northern Genomics dataset.
What does Olympic 1500m swimming, Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the Yellowstone TV series have in common? Well Marie’s article featured in Beef Central draws similarities between these themes, in the context of implementing genetic change in your herd. Marie reflects on how sustainable change is incremental overtime, with no silver bullets, but this change is worth making to provide a profitable future, particularly in family beef enterprises.
It’s time for commercial beef business in Northern Australia to get curious about herd fertility to improve profitability in their operations. Breeding Brilliance was a forum that did just that! In conjunction with CBV, LCL, GEG and IVV Polls the event offered an opportunity for producers to engage with industry leading reproductive scientists, geneticists and agribusiness professionals. Josie’s article, featured in FarmOnline highlights the key themes and messages from the day.
