Copley Pastoral Field Day 2026

FIELD DAY 2026

REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN

Curious producers ask the questions that build better herds.

After a sold-out event in 2025, the Copley Pastoral Field Day returns for 2026, bringing together producers, researchers and industry professionals for a day of practical discussion, new ideas and meaningful connection.

Curious Minds, Profitable Herds is designed for producers who enjoy digging deeper into the science, business and decision-making that shape successful cattle operations. From genetic technologies and market insights to the realities of running multi-generation family enterprises, the program explores the drivers behind profitable and sustainable beef production.

As always, our speakers are chosen not only for their expertise but for their ability to communicate complex ideas in ways that are engaging, relevant and genuinely useful for cattle producers.

The Program

Profit Pros – Driving profitability in beef production is essential to building resilient cattle businesses. Presentations from Bush Agribusiness, John Keiller and Angus Gidley-Baird will examine business performance, market dynamics and the strategic decisions shaping the red meat sector.

Herd Nerds – Our Herd Nerds are back. Professor Ben Hayes, Associate Professor Liz Ross and Dr James Copley will explore the science behind genetic improvement in cattle. Sharing insights from genomics research and animal health to explore how these developments translate into practical breeding decisions.

QAAFI Crush-Side Genotyping Demonstration – The QAAFI team will demonstrate crush-side genotyping, enabling DNA samples to be collected and processed more efficiently in the yards. This session will provide an update on the research behind the technology and its potential to accelerate breeding selection.

Curious World of Family Beef Business – We are excited to welcome David and Sonya Greenup of Rosevale Santa Gertrudis to join Copley Pastoral in a discussion about multi-generation family beef businesses. Together we’ll explore the realities, opportunities and lessons involved in building sustainable livestock enterprises across generations.

The day will conclude with drinks and dinner, a great opportunity to continue conversations and catch up with fellow producers.
